BAT suffered their first home defeat of the season last night, losing 3-2 to lowly Alton Town despite taking the lead midway through the first half.
Johnny Smith beat the offside trap before opening the scoring for the Tobaccomen but the visitors equalised on the half hour mark
And with 15 minutes left, Alton took the lead, before Richard Gregory equalised with a half volley on 77 following a one-two with David Puckett.
But a stoppage time winner from Alton condemned Andy Leader's side to a first defeat in six games.
Leader said: "We were at fault defending crosses and struggled to deal with Alton, who are a big, strong competitive side.
"They've improved ten fold since we last played them earlier in the season.
"The playing surface was fantastic despite the rain but unfortunately our run has still come to an end."
AFC Totton took advantage of the postponement of Lymington & New Milton's match at home to Cowes Sports, which fell victim to the weather.
Ian Robinson's men continued their unbeaten start to the season, winning 1-0 at Christchurch to leapfrog Graham Kemp's side into fifth place.
Hamble ASSC, meanwhile, could only manage a goalless draw at bottom of the table Whitchurch.
