Hampshire amateur golf champion Richard Elmes produced a fine performance to take
second place in the French Mid-Amateur Championship at the golfe de la Baule.
One-handicapper Elmes from Stoneham carded rounds of 75, 74 and 74 to finish five shots behind the winner, Frenchman Olivier Dupas.
Elmes edged another Englishman David Anderson into third place by three shots.
Another Stoneham clubman, four handicapper Steve Williams finished in 42nd place after rounds of 90, 80 and 81 on the par 72 course.
