SOUTHAMPTON Saints suffered a 1-0 home defeat against Doncaster Belles in their Women's National League match yesterday.
The only goal came in the 41st minute when Carly Hunt took advantage of a defensive error to score.
Saints went close to an equaliser in the last minute when an Alex Cottier shot skimmed the top of the crossbar. Overall, it was another good performance from a young Saints side.
Two goals from former Southampton player Rachel McArthur helped leaders Fulham maintain their four-point cushion over Arsenal with a 3-1 victory over Birmingham.
Arsenal maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with a comfortable 4-1 victory over bottom-of-the-table Brighton at Clarence Park thanks to goals from Faye White, Angela Banks, Ellen Maggs and Jayne Ludlow, who grabbed her 18th goal of the season. Tammy Wayne replied.
Everton defeated Leeds 3-1 while an Amanda Barr brace gave Charlton a 2-0 triumph at Tranmere.
