A Hampshire school is in line for a £20,000 windfall after Saints and Pompey stars clashed on the golf course.
Bridgemary Community School in Gosport will collect the cash raised during the charity showdown at Botley Park Hotel Golf and Country Club.
The money will be used as part of its bid for specialist sports college status.
The day finished with a charity auction and dinner attended by all the players and 160 guests.
Sarah Jones, Bridgemary Community School's community officer, said she was staggered at how much money they raised.
"Over the past 16 weeks we have raised £7,500 so we are well on our way to achieving our goal of £50,000 by March.
"Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves on the golf course. Matt Le Tissier, Jason Dodd and Graham Rix were excellent and made time to chat with some of the pupils who came to watch."
Despite Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp withdrawing most of his first team, the event was still a huge success.
Captained by Jason Dodd, Saints comfortably beat their south coast rivals.
Organiser Lorri Seymour said: "Many of the Pompey fans and people who took part said from what they saw of the Saints players, they will never say a bad word about Southampton again."
Southampton's team of golfing supremos were Rory Delap, Chris Marsden, Paul Telfer, Mark Blake, Mark Draper, Chris Collins, Matt Oakley, Nick Banger, Matt Le Tissier, James Beattie and Jason Dodd.
Pompey's star line-up included Graham Rix, Alan Ball, Dave Beasant, Guy Whittingham, Scott Hiley, Lee Bradbury, Mark Chamberlain and Neil McNab.
