A DELIVERY driver was robbed at knifepoint as he stopped off at a Fareham lay-by.
Cengiz Ozakan was filling out paperwork on the Eastern Way lay-by on his way out of the town when he was targeted by two attackers.
Mr Ozakan had just finished his deliveries for Star Catering supplies to companies in Fareham and was filling out paperwork when he was approached by a man asking for directions. The man then pulled a knife on the 36-year-old driver and another man, who was also brandishing a knife, got into the passenger side demanding money.
Mr Ozakan was forced to hand over hundreds of pounds in cash to the pair who then made off over a grassy slope next to the lay-by. Mr Ozakan, from London, was expected to return to work but is said to be deeply shocked by the attack that happened between 5.30pm and 5.40pm on Thursday.
Director of the Walthamstow-based company Altan Gultekin said: "Mr Ozakan was left very upset and shaken by the attack that was simply shocking."
Det Sgt Gary Towse said: "It is worrying when there is a couple of offenders using knives to attack people that are just going about their daily work."
Drivers who use the lay-bys have also been warned to be on their guard.
Any witnesses or people with information about the attack can contact DC Geoff Pike at Fareham CID on 0845 045 4545.
