Basingstoke Buffalo just can't stop winning as they extended this season's unbeaten run with a close-fought 4-3 victory away to Invicta Mustangs.
With both teams having good chances at either end, it was Buffalo who took the lead through Drew Campbell after five minutes, assisted by Anthony Page and Mike Newberry.
With the net minders from both teams on form, it took a chip shot from Campbell to double the Buffalo advantage after 15 minutes.
When Steve Kochli and Darren Elliot combined to put Rob Etheridge through early in the second period, the Buffalo looked to be in control at 3-0.
But David Savage pulled one back for Invicta, injecting some fight into the side in the process.
Simon Beere restored Buffalo's three-goal advantage, which could have killed the game but a revitalised Invicta responded immediately, placing constant pressure on the Buffalo defence.
The pressure paid off early in the third period as Peter Beerling made the score 2-4, before a solo effort from Andy Martin reduced the deficit to just one.
Buffalo were rocking as they went a man down in the last five minutes but, despite some scrappy moments, they held on to their lead and their 100 per cent record to win in a nail-biting finish.
Basingstoke Buffalo will next play hosts to the Peterborough Islanders at Basingstoke Ice Rink at 6.30 tomorrow.
Basingstoke scorers: Drew Campbell 2+0, Simon Beere, Rob Etheridge 1+0, Darren Elliot 0+2, Michael Newberry, Anthony Page and Steve Kochli 0+1.
