Over five hundred runners battled through the wind and rain last Sunday in the Clarendon Way full, half and relay marathons.
Despite the horrendous conditions, in the Marathon, which was started by BBC South Today's Tony Husband, Amy Stiles put a sparkle on the day when she set a new record in the ladies event with a very impressive 2.56.0.
The Westbury Harriers runner was not only more than 20 minutes ahead of her closest rival, but her time put her third overall.
In the men's race, German Michael Asperger of SHNAC ran out victorious in an impressive 2.50.57, while Martin Rea of Springfield Striders came in second with a very creditable 2.53.14.
In the half-marathon, Lesley Whiley produced a solid performance to win the women's event in a time of 1.28.56 while locals runners Michaela McCullam and Nicola Yevko came home in second and third with times of 1.31.55 and 1.33.43 respectively.
Stuart Anderson ran into his hometown of Salisbury to clinch victory in the men's race with a commendable 1.22.47, while David Currie of IBM Hursley Runners followed close behind in 1.23.49.
Catmill Casuals convincingly won the relay team event in 3.01.24, more than ten minutes ahead of second placed team, Springfield Striders and Half Baked HHH took the relay Hash House Harrier team in a time of 3.29.19.
Eastleigh RC underlined their dominance in long-distance when they picked up first place for the men's and women's club team in the marathon and a second place in the men's club team for the half marathon.
Poole Runners clinched the title for the men's Club team in the half marathon while Reading Road Runners took the ladies crown for the same event.
At the end of the event, race director Paul Elderkin from Winchester commented on the success of the day: "Despite the atrocious weather conditions the event was deemed by many to have been great fun" he said.
"I would like to thank all those who attended, but also to the many others who have continued to help in making this event become established in the south of England."
