THE omens weren't good for Goldrush's debut album. The Oxford-based band went into the famous Abbey Road studios on the same day that George Harrison died.
True to the title of the album, Don't Bring Me Down, the coincidence doesn't seem to have altered the band's fortunes.
"It was weird leaving the studio that day to be confronted by grieving fans and All Thing Must Pass playing in the hallway," says singer and guitarist Robbie.
"We recorded most of the songs live with overdubs and some vocals done back at our own studio. Like the Mondays, we felt we had to get the right vibes. They had Bez, we had several 'ambience technicians' present at sessions. These people should remain nameless, as owing to them most vocals were recorded drunk or worse."
Goldrush are currently halfway through a 21-date UK tour to promote the album.
