RS BASINGSTOKE have not had the best of weeks as they lost twice in the space of three days.

To add to their misery, the side have seen two of their league wins wiped from the records after Ashton Clinton pulled out of Hellenic Division 1 East.

The loss of six points has sent second-placed RS down to ninth place but they now have at least two games in hand on most of the clubs above them - one of which is Milton United who are the visitors tomorrow.

On Tuesday, two late goals killed off a spirited RS display at Fleet Town, who play two leagues above the visitors.

This was in the North Hampshire Senior Cup, a trophy RS have held for the last three years.

On Tuesday night, the visitors took the lead as a nice one-two from Tommy Clayson and Brain Cook set up Nathan Smart to score after 26 minutes.

Soon after, Tim Hyde was called into action making the first of a number of good saves.

Fleet managed to equalise with five minutes left in the half and if was an even contest after the break until Fleet scored on 58 minutes.

The home side netted two late goals to complete a 4-1 victory and move into the next round and become the new favourites to win the competition.

On Saturday, RS lost their unbeaten record in the league suffering a 3-2 defeat at Penn Tylers with Simon Neller scoring both goals.
