Matthew Le Tisser never lifted the FA Cup with Saints, but he might just savour FA Vase glory with Eastleigh.
Le God, who is due to sign on for the Jewson Wessex League side tomorrow posed with the prestigious non-League trophy at St Mary's Stadium prior to the England international this week.
The Channel Island-born legend said: "I hope Eastleigh do well and, if they do, there's a very good chance I could be playing in the Vase.
"I'm looking to play maybe five or six times for Eastleigh this season, but I might enjoy it so much that I will want to do it every week!
"It's like going back to when I was 15 or 16 and training with my local team in Guernsey. It's a lot more relaxed and
you haven't got the pressure of a manager who is going to stand there and start criticising you."
For all that, Le Tissier does not underestimate Eastleigh's ambition and said: "The Vase is their FA Cup and it's a competition they feel they have a good chance of going a long way in.
"They have spent a lot of money and are looking for success."
Eastleigh boss Paul Doswell can't wait to have Le God on board and said: "Matt is absolutely revered down this way. The response to him playing is just unbelievable. People would go and watch him play on the beach!"
