Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes, The Brook, Southampton
LET'S face it, anybody who's been doing the same job for more than 25 years will probably be good at what they do.
Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes visited Southampton last night on what was only the second night on their UK tour - and they almost took the roof off the popular Portswood venue. If you wanted to pigeonhole the band, you'd have to describe them as a heady mix of soul and rhythm and blues, but that only tells half the story. The eight-piece band mixed tracks from their new album, Going Down Jukesville, with classic tracks from their 25-year history - namely Talk To Me, Fever, Don't Walk Away Renee, Trapped Again and I Don't Wanna Go Home.
Throwing in a few cover versions for good measure, Southside Johnny yet again proved to be the Brook gig of the year.
Pure class.
