New Street 3, Pirelli 0
ANDOVER New Street made it eight points out of possible 12 from their last four games in the Hants Premier with last Saturday's home win against Pirelli General, with two goals from Bobby Swanye and another from Pete Swinney.
Gary Prince's side took the lead on five minutes when skipper Kevin Knight broke clear on the left pulled the ball back for Nic Turpin and he squared it for Bobby Swayne to slot home.
Street went further ahead on 25 minutes when Matt Styles was brought down in the penalty area and Swayne added his second goal from the resulting spot kick.
Pirelli had the chance to get back into the game 10 minutes later when they were also awarded a penalty but Dave Tasker in the Street goal earned his clean sheet with a fine save.
Pirelli put Street under a bit of pressure for the first 10 minutes of the second half but Street ended their hopes of a comeback with a third goal on the hour when Pirelli failed to clear a corner and Swinney fired home the loose ball from 18 yards into the bottom corner.
Street assistant manager Graham Knight said: "We've now taken eight points from our last four league games and the team are playing with a lot of confidence at the moment." New Street (5-3-2): Tasker; Turner, Allen, Dunn, Keogh, Knight (capt); Swinney, Vince, Swayne; Turpin, Styles. Subs (not used): Waters, Davis.
Tuesday night's home game against Otterbourne in the Trophyman Cup was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and will now be played on Tuesday, 5 November.
