WITH many local players involved in school games, only one match at under-15 level was played in the HAS Youth League last Saturday but Test Valley capitalised as they gained their first win of the season with a 3-0 triumph in their bottom-of-the-table clash with South Wonston.
There was also just one match for the under-14's with Simon Bevis' Castledown having their title hopes dented by old rivals Hatch Warren. They finished runners up to Andy Healy's table-toppers last season and the 'Warren once again gained the upper hand with a 2-0 win in another top-of-the-table clash.
There was little success for local sides at under-13 level with Barton Stacey crashing 11-0 to new leaders Porton and Test Valley are another side still without a point after their 5-2 defeat by Worthies 'A'.
There was a full programme for the under-12's but again little to cheer local teams with Upper Clatford losing 7-1 at home to Romsey Raiders.
Just the one match was played at under-11 level with Upper Clatford going down 5-3 to another of the Porton sides but at under-10's the Clatford side had better fortunes when running out 3-1 victors away at Collingbourne.
Whitchurch had an off day when losing 5-0 to Fordingbridge, Test Valley boosted their title hopes with a hard fought 3-2 victory away to lowly South Wonston whilst Vernham Dean were on the receiving end again when losing their bottom-of-the-table tussle 7-1 with Romsey.
