October Medal
THE Sunday October medal competition at Andover golf club produced a superb round of golf by Alan North (9) who easily won Division 1 by 6 strokes with a net 65. Second place went to Roger Stevens (7) with a net 71 and Robert Long (2) won the scratch prize once again with a gross 74.
Seniors' captain Michael Mills (15) appears to have benefited well from all of the golf that he has played this year as he was the Division 2 winner with an excellent net score of 67.
Ray Langdown (14) secured second spot with a net 70 on countback from Andy Robson (15) and Chris Davies (14). Division 3 was won for the first time by Adrian Aspinal (21) with a net 69 and Martin Cunningham (20) was second with a net 72. He just beat Edward Bentley (19) on countback.
Saturday's Division 1 was a fiercely contested affair with no less than 8 players in the net 60's. Top of the bunch with a very impressive gross 71, net 66 was Peter Scott (5) who deservedly won both the net and scratch prizes.
Luke Graham (9) was second with his net 67 and he beat Martin Bennet (8) and Simon Maskell (5) on countback.
Barry Browning (16) was the Division 2 champion with a net 69 and Mike Paul (14) performed well once again to take second spot with the same net score.
An excellent net 66 was good enough for Johann Urquhart (28) to take the Division 3 title and Ian Cook (19) finished in second place with a net 68.
