JEWSON WESSEX League representatives Gosport Borough reached the end of the FA Cup road when they bowed out 3-1 at Bideford.
Yet it had all started so well for Gosport when Neil Scammell fired them into a first-half lead - only for the Western League champions to equalise right on the half-time whistle.
The turning point of the tie came on the hour mark when Gosport's Ian Rew was sent off for a second bookable offence and the over-worked ten men finally capitulated in the last 15 minutes.
Boro's assistant manager Gary Lee said: "Ian's sending off for two yellows was a little disappointing but we managed to weather the storm for a while before it finally told on their legs.
"Despite the defeat, it's been an enjoyable day and the club can be proud of what we have achieved in the FA Cup - and we've made some money in the process as well."
