BLUEHORSES gallop into Winchester's Tower Arts Centre on October 31 with a few new faces.
Virtuoso electric violin player Mark Knight now plays second fiddle to Liz Prendergast, while young bass player Nathan Waulker has also saddled up with the dynamic folk-rockers. "We've known Mark for about six years," says lead singer and frontline fiddler Liz.
"He's fitted in like he's always been with us and he's really enthusiastic about it. He plays in the same mould as me - he's a rocker and and nearly saws the thing in half!"
The sound of Bluehorses has expanded in all kinds of directions over the last year.
Liz has added electric Celtic harp and space-mandolin to her arsenal, while Neil Browning who joined the band a year ago, can handle guitar, squeezebox, keyboards and bouzouki. Co-founder Nic Waulker remains behind the drums.
Sharing stages with bands as diverse as The Levellers, Hawkwind and The Oysterband, Bluehorses have spent much of the last seven years on the road honing their eclectic mix of Celtic elements, contemporary rhythms, classic rock interludes and witty lyrics. Their visual flair and fun attitude has knocked out audiences from Spain to Scandinavia and even the Orkney Isles.
