FAMILY learning was in the spotlight in Southampton with fun events for families taking place across the city.
The Family Learning Weekend aimed to give families the chance to find out how learning together can be stimulating.
Parents and their youngsters at Sure Start, in Weston, got to try their hands at scores of unusual activities.
Families made pizzas together, planted spring bulbs and indulged in a spot of arts and crafts before taking a guided walk in the woods to identify animal tracks.
Meanwhile, visitors to Redbridge Community School had a go at a Hallowe'en Craft Day, making creepy goodies together, ready for the big night.
Elsewhere in the city there was storytelling for the under-fives and another family activity day at the Clovelly Centre in Newtown.
Southampton education boss Richard Harris said: "We believe that to raise the aspirations and achievements of both children and adults in the city, we need to encourage all members of the family to embrace learning as a normal and fun thing to do."
