A PUB landlord in Southampton is rallying behind the Be Safe, Be Sensible campaign.
Popular student haunt The Hobbit, in Bevois Valley, Southampton, is the latest pub to display the Daily Echo's safety awareness poster.
The Hobbit wants to raise awareness among its student regulars not to take risks when returning home late at night.
Landlord Colin Pollard believes students can be the main victims of street crime.
Mr Pollard said: "About 80 per cent of our regulars are students.
"We want to help raise safety awareness among our patrons, especially the female students."
"This is generally a safe area but only last year we had a girl rush in saying she had been attacked up the road from here."
The late night journey home on foot from the pub is a prime time for street crime to occur.
With the longer winter nights fast closing in, the Daily Echo Be Safe, Be Sensible campaign encourages women and all vulnerable people to take extra care on the streets with a simple five-point safety plan:
Don't walk home alone.
Be picked up by a friend or trusted taxi.
Stick to well-lit main roads.
Carry a personal alarm.
Don't ignore your instincts.
