What makes a good entrepreneur? Should students be regarded as potential "employment fodder" or should they focus on their academic discipline?
Winchester's King Alfred's College hosts a debate next Wednesday on the controversial and conflicting views surrounding employability skills.
Employers and former students are joining college staff and air their views in a discussionled by Val Butcher, senior adviser on employability at the Learning and Teaching Support Network Generic Centre, and John Peters, deputy director of learning and teaching, University College Worcester .
The event marks the launch of a new employability skills website.
"Employability skills are already integrated into the curriculum - indeed, new programmes need to demonstrate they have incorporated these skills as part of the planning process," said King Alfred's director of student services, Ann Keating.
"We hope the website will help staff to involve effective practice in the teaching of degrees."
