A Winchester man, who was mugged for his cigarettes by a group of youths, may have been their second victim.
The 29-year-old man was attacked between Water Lane and Beggar's Lane at 10.50pm on Wednesday in last week.
Now, say police, a second man has come forward to say he was attacked by a youth, believed to be one of the gang, just 20 minutes earlier in The Broadway.
He asked for a cigarette and then punched the man, who then chased his attacker as he ran off with two companions.
Police have issued descriptions of the youths, who are said to range in age from 12 to 18. Ring 0845-0454545 if you think you can help.
