The delayed Totton 10K Road Race is fast approaching on October 27 (2.30pm), but it has again run into a sponsorship hurdle.
After several years surviving with no financial backer, the organisers thought they had found the answer when a local Totton company agreed to support the race.
But, due to unforeseen circumstances, that deal has fallen through and they are once again crying out for a new sponsor.
The original 2002 race had been scheduled for April, but it was scuppered by delayed roadworks on the A36.
Competitors this time will have the added bonus of a bouncy castle that will keep the children occupied while mum or dad is busy running.
There will be the usual children's fun run at 4pm (entry 50p), offering a medal for every finisher and a trophy for the winning boy and girl in each age group, covering under-nines and 10s-and-overs.
Anyone interested in sponsoring, marshalling or competing in the race should contact either Sean Driscoll on 023 8066 3349 or Brian Harvey on 023 8029 3112. Alternatively, entry forms are available at Totton Recreation Centre.
This weekend is a big one for local runners with the Hampshire Cross-Country League season opening at Farley Mount, Winchester today and the Hardley Half Marathon hitting the road at 11am tomorrow.
