IF MCALMONT & Butler ever see a need to change their name then they should seriously consider The Odd Couple.
For the partnership of David McAlmont and Bernard Butler is right up there with Chris and Billie and John and Edwina for strange couplings.
David McAlmont and former Suede star Bernard Butler first collaborated on the epic single Yes, which was released at the height of Britpop. The subsequent album, The Sound Of McAlmont & Butler, hardly set the world alight, and after a few high profile disagreements, they went their separate ways.
Bernard recorded his solo album, People Move On and David completed a few side projects and nobody ever thought the duo would reunite.
Until now of course, with the summer release of their new album, Bring It Back, excellent single Falling, and a string of UK dates.
Wedgewood Rooms, Portsmouth, October 13. Tickets: £8. Box Office: 023 9286 3911.
