IT'S NOT every film that can successfully make the transition from screen to stage.
But the London Classic Theatre Company's version of The Killing of Sister George breathes new life into the sixties classic.
The play centres on June Buckridge, the middle-aged star of Applehurst, a BBC radio drama, in which she plays Sister George.
But while Sister George is an eccentric, kindly district nurse, June is a charismatic but volatile drunk.
Junes personal and professional lives begin to disintegrate with the arrival of Mercy Croft, a BBC executive who wants to kill off the Sister George character.
This is a groundbreaking comedy which gives a bitter-sweet insight into the fickle nature of celebrity status.
Forest Arts Centre, New Milton, October 12. Performance: 8pm. Tickets: £8. Box office: 01425 612393.
