MEMBERS of the Hampshire public are to be asked for their views on services to be provided at Lymington Infirmary.
A proposal has been put together by the New Forest Primary Care Trust for the re-provision of services at the 19th-century facility and the plans are to be reviewed by the public before a final decision is made by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Health Authority.
The in-patient services currently being provided at the infirmary can no longer meet NHS requirements without substantial investment in the facility.
In four years, all the services run from the site will be transferred to the new Lymington and New Forest Hospital.
The plans include developing a stroke unit in Milford on Sea, improving accommodation within other community hospitals, improving opportunities for intermediate care and developing opportunities for GPs and consultants to share patients' care.
Public meetings take place at St Thomas Church Hall in St Thomas Street, Lymington, on Tuesday from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, Holbury Junior School in Whitefield Road, Holbury on Thursday from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, and the Baptist Chapel in Barnes Lane, Milford on Sea on October 24 from 10am to 12pm.
Any written comments on the proposals, which are available from the Consultation Office, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Health Authority, Oakley Road, Southampton SO16 4GX, should be sent to the above address and arrive no later than Tuesday, November 5.
