If Romsey are to be classed as genuine contenders for honours this season, they must come through the harder Hampshire Division One fixtures, and one such game is this weekend as Guernsey visits the Sports Centre in the pick of the matches.

Dave Wallace's team, who finished third behind the promoted pair last season will be no pushover for Ben Hewitt and his gold and blue hooped table-toppers, and they are forced to make a couple of changes.

Richard Webb moves across in the front row from hooker to Chris Geyton's prop place, allowing Hewitt into the middle, while Matt Bellis is back from his vacation and into the second row for Paul Double.

Former Havant and Winchester flanker Nick Roach will play in the centre if he can leave work in time. Hampshire Under-20 player Graham Lusty stands by.

Millbrook start as odds-on favourites to pick up their second league win of the season when they host pointless Nomads, a side with just two penalty kicks to their name in three starts!

But team manager Alan Day admits: "We are absolutely terrible when we are favourites. In games we are supposed to win easily, we generally just scrape a win."

They will be minus skipper Mike Mulcahy, who is away on business, so Jim Brown switches back to his old position of number eight and Martin Colmer slots in. Mike Goodridge comes in for Wayne Renwick, the only other change.

Fareham Heathens could compound Eastleigh's indifferent start to the season by rekindling the form that took them so close against Farnborough last week.

Mark Steward's side welcome Kiwi flanker John Barrett for the first time. His registration has finally come through and his inclusion should strengthen their back line. Teenager Mark Jones gains a start in the centre.

Rob Mangles returns for high-flying New Milton & District, who can push troubled Hamble further into the mire by giving the Riversiders the same treatment they dished out to Nomads six days ago.

In Division Two, Fawley skipper Andy Headley has taken drastic measures following their loss to Ellingham & Ringwood last week by axing five of the forwards, including himself, for the visit of Portcastrians. All three back row forwards - Dave Radford, Ross Smith and Headley - are replaced by veterans Mike Conway, Simon Blann and club coach Bud McGrane. Sean Burrows comes in to the front row and Andy Burden displaces Ian Cromar.

Jeff Plumley returns to his more favoured scrum-half place, while Fijian Manasa Tawake is back after splitting his ear during midweek.

Headley said: "We are expecting Portcastrians to play a similar style to Ellingham, so we are going for a more experienced side, especially in the back row. All bar the hooker are over 30 in this side - we need this to get us back on track."

Fordingbridge are without long-term injured Gary Evans and John Stockley for the visit of Lytchett Minster, while there is an Isle of Wight derby at Wootton, when the Island side take on Ventnor. Second-placed Ellingham & Ringwood go to Alresford.
