IT'S TIME to party!
Hundreds of thousands of people in south Hampshire took to the streets, parks and open spaces as Jubilee time approached.
Not since the Queen's Silver Jubilee 25 years ago have so many people enjoyed a carnival atmosphere, and with fine weather throughout much of the weekend, nothing dampened spirits.
Hundreds of events from street parties to fairs, and festivals to parades got under way as people got together to enjoy and remember 50 years of Elizabeth II's reign.
In Southampton, one of the biggest events was a four-day Golden Jubilee Jamboree in Mayflower Park, featuring live music, competitions, a market and a funfair. Organisers were delighted at the turnout over the first two days.
The New Forest saw the start of Sway Jubilee Carnival, with bright sunshine adding to the colour of a one-off celebration.
Winchester had something for everyone, ranging from a children's parade through the streets of Stanmore to a steam train gala on the nearby Watercress Line marking the incredible technological revolution of the past half-century.
Not to be outdone, in Romsey there were guided tours of places of royal interest and the town centre was awash with the carnival mood.
Fareham hosted a Picnic On The Prom, with scores of people enjoying the chance to mingle with others as the town came together to mark the occasion.
With hundreds more parties getting under way, the extended bank holiday weekend looks like being a great success.
So anyone who doubted whether the British would come together to celebrate the Jubilee will have been proved hugely wrong.
