WITH a public inquiry scheduled to start in the Guildhall on 18 June to decide the future shape of Andover High Street the Andover Chamber of Commerce has decided to survey its membership to see how they view the borough council's plan for change.
In a letter to all members the organisation's executive officer, Josephine Malcolm, said: "The chamber recognises that there are two widely differing views about this proposal among its membership and conducted two surveys in 1997 and 1998.
"The results of these surveys are now rather historic and so we decided to carry out a new survey in order to ascertain the most up-to-date concensus of chamber members' opinions in time for the public inquiry on the High Street."
Members have been asked to return a form to provide an accurate picture of members' opinion.
On the form members are given three options; a 'no change' option, a 'pedestrianisation as proposed' option and an option to make 'other suggestions'.
The replies will be kept confidential chamber members have been told.
