A young Ryde-based band have won their way on to the stage of the Rock Island concert on June 3 after winning a showcase competition.
Neglected Youth were chosen from among 27 local bands by music industry judges, including representatives of EMI, Universal and British Music Group.
Neglected Youth, a punk rock band, comprise Alex Glough, 16, Dave Stringer, 16, Geoff Bauldry, 16, Eve Barnes, 15, and Russell Arnold, 16.
As part of winning the competition, the band will also get five days in a recording studio and a professional promotional video made.
A team of 80 workers have been assembling a mountain of equipment brought across to the Island on 60 articulated lorries to the event.
A 60-ton crane has been lifting the main structures into place, and electricians have been linking up and testing six miles of cabling feeding the stage, sound systems and two huge TV screens.
Special computer-controlled sound systems will prevent noise travelling further than the specified distance within Seaclose Park.
Some of those attending the Rock Island concert will be using organised camping facilities next to the show site, but there is not expected to be anything like the mayhem seen in 1970 at Freshwater and at some mainland festivals.
