ANDOVER police have warned residents to make sure their windows are firmly closed and locked at night as the warm summer weather approaches.
The warning comes after two failed attempts to break into homes in the town recently.
A man returned to his home in Bradman Square, Cricketers Way to find someone trying to break in via a closed window at the back of the house. The would-be burglar ran off and no entry was made, said Pc Ted Reynolds.
In another incident an attempt was made to break into a house in Weavers Close, Andover but again the raider failed.
Pc Reynolds said: "In both cases these windows were securely shut but as summer approaches we are warning people against making it easy for burglars to get in by leaving windows open."
He said that although the temptation was to leave windows open during the hot weather, residents should make sure that windows are closed before they go to bed, especially those on the ground floor.
