MEMORIES of days gone by were a thing of the present when vintage cars, steam engines, an old tractor and a fire engine rolled into Appleshaw for a charity event.
The fundraising day at The Walnut Tree pub was in aid of the Andover branch of the Chernobyl Children's charity and was in part arranged by father and son Stuart and David Hardiman from Appleshaw who own two of the steam engines on show and who helped with many of the other attractions.
"We had stalls, steam engine rides, shire horse rides, a barbeque and a marquee, and it was a great success with more than 200 people turning up," said landlady Ann Miller.
The nostalgic day in Appleshaw was a taster for a second event in Ludgershall which was also in aid of the Chernobyl Children's charity. The steam engines were once again on show and more crowds enjoyed the day's activities.
"We're definitely planning to do it again," said Ann. The total amount of money raised at the two events has yet to be announced.
