MARTYN SEKJER made his presence felt in Hampshire's 122-115 friendly win against Wiltshire at Atherley.

The former international, approaching his first season with the county after moving from Kent, was outstanding as his rink produced Hampshire's best result in this Middleton Cup warm-up fixture.

The Sports Centre skip won 29-13, while Russell Morgan (Boscombe Cliff) scored a 28-14 success and Peter Ward (Sports Centre) drew 17-17.

Hampshire lost the other three contests with Chris Daniels (Boscombe Cliff) going down 25-17, Nicky Smith (Atherley) falling 23-14 and Nicky Jones (Boscombe Cliff) finishing 23-17 behind.

Team manager John Plomer was "very pleased" with the overall display, but he is forced to make several changes for the final Middleton Cup sharpener against Dorset at Dorchester on Sunday (2pm).

Dean Morgan and Julian Haines, both on Commonwealth Games duty, Nicky Jones and Dave Dunford are not available and Richard Shelley, Paul Short, Darren Clark and Ken Marsh are drafted in. Plomer also replaces Ian Churchman with Bill Belcher.

The opening cup date is Saturday, June 8, away to the Isle of Wight.

Dean Morgan (Boscombe Cliff), Ward, Russell Morgan and Sekjer will represent Hampshire in the Top Four championship match against Isle of Wight at Atherley on Sunday, June 2 (10.30).

Mark Hammond (Banister Park) and Michael Hutley (Boscombe Cliff) will make their first appearances in the under-25 double rink championship when Hampshire play Kent at Maidstone on June 2. Hampshire rinks:
