MOTOCROSS legend Dave Thorpe has taken Bitterne startlet Tommy Wright under his wing.
Three-times world champion Thorpe watched the twice national age group champion in action at Matchams and offered to coach him.
Thorpe's style is obviously rubbing off on the youngster. After grabbing a trio of victories at Reading, 14-year-old Wright was described as a "young Thorpey."
Wright has started up well in the British Schoolboy Championship with two race wins at Culham followed by a win and third and fourth places in the second round at Finningley in Doncaster.
Young Wright has also teamed up with Stuart Nightingale of JMX Racing who runs a motorcycle dealership in Southampton and has offered to supply the youngster with two new Hondas.
