A MAN charged with the manslaughter of a Basingstoke pensioner was committed to crown court this week.
Michael Cooper-Addis, 23, of Barrett Court, Basingstoke, is also accused of burgling a house in Camfield Close, Basingstoke.
It is alleged that Camfield Close resident Edwin Brixton, 77, had suspected his next-door neighbour's property was being burgled at about 10.40am on Friday.
Witnesses say that Mr Brixton ran after a man and rugby tackled him to the ground before collapsing with a heart attack.
He was taken to Basingstoke hospital where he died shortly after arriving.
On Monday, Basingstoke magistrates committed Cooper-Addis to Winchester Crown Court.
He was remanded in custody until the hearing on Monday.
