RELATIVES, family friends, classmates and teachers paid their last respects at the funeral of brave Hampshire youngster Jamie Stubbs yesterday.

The nine-year-old, of Studland Road, Millbrook, who would have been ten yesterday, died on Saturday, May 11 from an asthma attack.

Jamie knew how dangerous his asthma was and had told his family that he wanted to donate his organs should he die.

Southampton General Hospital has found recipients, who cannot be named, for the little boy's liver, lungs, heart valves and kidney.

The city's crematorium was filled yesterday as people of all ages came to say goodbye to the boy who was described as "the smile of the world".

He wore a full England football kit for the funeral service, donated by Mansel Junior School which Jamie attended.

My Heart Will Go On, from Titanic, one of Jamie's favourite films, was played at the service, as well as another of the youngster's favourite songs, R Kelly's If I Could Turn Back The Hands of Time.

During the ceremony, the youngster's parents, Sharon and Colin, read out a poem they had written about their son, and Mr Stubbs said a few words about how proud they were of Jamie.

Addressing the congregation, Rev Russell Ogston, said that Jamie's wish was "a huge gesture from a small but remarkable person".
