POLICE were today due to carry out a major search of the River Hamble in the hunt for missing teenager Daniel Nolan.
A diving team from Sussex police, the Hampshire marine unit and plane, Hampshire police dogs and a specialist dog from Lancashire were due to take part in the operation.
But Dan's mum, Pauline, has hit out at today's police operation saying that it has come weeks too late.
Dan, 15, has been missing from his Hamble Lane home since a late night fishing trip with pals on the bitterly cold first night of the year.
He was last seen at around 11.45pm after he had walked to a village store to buy chocolate but found it shut.
Despite widescale land, sea and air searches, he has not been traced but his mother believes he is still alive.
A police spokesman confirmed that today's search was not in response to any information received. He said: "We are re-visiting the scene and having another look."
