A SPATE of burglaries in Oakley, South Ham, Buckskin and Kempshott are being investigated by a special Basingstoke police unit.
Last weekend six houses were reported burgled in Basingstoke - two in Oakley, in Oak Close and Hill Road, three in South Ham and one in Winchester Road.
They followed four burglaries that occurred earlier in the week in Buckskin and Homesteads Road, Kempshott.
In some of the break-ins, the offenders gained entry to the rear of the property through unlocked doors during the day while the occupiers were inside the house.
In other cases, the burglars had broken into sheds to steal tools and then used them to force open patio doors.
The burglary impact unit team at Basingstoke police station are investigating all the incidents.
Sgt Martin Cullis, of Basingstoke police, said: "It's believed these burglaries are being committed during the day. The public are requested to telephone the police immediately if they see anybody acting suspiciously."
Anyone who sees anything suspicious is asked to call Basingstoke police on 0845 045 45 45.
