The Grapevine Bistro and Delicatessen, Odiham, is planning a host of gourmet Hampshire food and drink delights to celebrate this year's "Hampshire Food Festival".
The Festival (26th May - 2nd June), organised by the county food group, Hampshire Fare, aims to promote the quality and diversity of local food produce by offering a chance to meet local producers and taste the vast range of produce available.
Head Chef at The Grapevine Bistro, David Bennett, has even created a special dish for the Festival - Hampshire Pasta with Watercress and Basil Pesto, with flour sourced from Botley Mills in Botley and watercress from The Test Valley.
David launched this tasty dish at Henrietta Green's "Food Lovers Fair" in Godalming last weekend, when he gave a live demonstration of fresh pasta making and enthusiastically served up steaming portions of his pasta dish to hundreds of eager foodies !
David was delighted at this reception: "I wanted to create a home-grown recipe which everyone could recreate easily and cheaply at home.
Local fresh produce should be enjoyed every day - and this simple dish is very easy and tasty to eat, even for vegetarians!"
Hampshire Pasta will feature on the bistro menu and be for sale at the Delicatessen throughout the week.
Other dishes on offer throughout the week at The Grapevine Bistro will include Roasted Hampshire Trout with almonds, Odiham Honey glazed pork and Chocolate Terrine with Meadow Cottage Jersey Cream.
Robin Tyler at the Delicatessen is also a strong protagonist of Hampshire produce and has lined up an exciting array of in-store events throughout the week, including tastings of the Delicatessen's home-made Andwell Smoked Trout and Pink Peppercorn Pt and a Special Jubilation Ale.
On the Saturday, a live bee keeping demonstration by Odiham honey maker Geoff Galliver is planned to take place in the Delicatessen itself.
All guaranteed to get the locals buzzing!
