Victory for Respect, Whippa Snappa, Close Encounter and Zoum The third race of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club's Twilight series on Thursday 16 May saw a south-easterly breeze of around eight knots and a strong ebb tide.

The Race Management Team set the Committee Boat off Weston on the eastern shore.

In Class 1 racing under IRC, Ross Appleby's Oyster 48 Scarlet Oyster took line honours but John Danby sailing the Corby 25 Respect won by one and half minutes on corrected time from Ed Holton's J/110 Shades of Blue II, and Paul Jones sailing Passion third.

Class 2 saw Richard Puddifoot sailing the Sigma 33 Whippa Snappa take line honours and corrected time victory by 2 minutes 18 seconds from Michael Short's K-Vector with Richard House's Prefix 22 Small third.

Class 3 - racing under club handicap, line honours was taken by Chris Waddington's Close Encounter who also won on corrected time by 49 seconds from H-Boat Badger (Ben James) with Jonathan Meeson's Trapper Fantastic Mr Fox third.

In the multihull class Peter Ward-Jenkins Corsair F28R Shakatak was first to finish but David McLeman's Dragonfly 920 Zoum came through to win by 23 seconds on corrected time from James Stewart's Dragonfly 800 Kokomo with Shakatak third.

The RSYC Twilight Series continues until 4 July.
