The Anvil, Basingstoke
THE Ukrainian National Opera of Odessa bring Verdi's tragic love story to The Anvil as part of their first UK tour.
Allegedly based on a true love story, the tempestuous tale of the passionate Violetta features many classic opera numbers, including the Brinsisi, the best-known
drinking song in opera, the duet Un di felici and the haunting aria Addio del
passato.
The production is sung in Italian, with English surtitles, and boasts sumptuous sets and costumes, as well as a full orchestra and guest stars from the acclaimed Chisinau National Opera.
May 19. Performance: 7.30pm. Tickets: from £14. Box office: 01256 844244.
