A STUDENT was forced by a group to hand over £15 from his wallet as he walked along an Andover street.
The incident took place in Western Road at 9.35pm on Thursday 9 May. The victim has given the police a detailed account of what happened.
He said: "One of the men asked if I had a light. As I was trying to get my lighter to spark up he said 'Can I have your money?' I said 'What?' and he repeated the question. "I said I didn't have any. He said 'Give me what you have got'.
"I took out my wallet and he said 'I don't want your wallet, I want your money'."
The thug took £15.
"He then said 'Walk off and if you look round I will hurt you.
"I didn't want to confront the man. I felt very scared and intimidated."
The victim was walking from the town centre towards the Floral Clock junction when the theft took place.
The ringleader is described as being 6ft 3ins, fast talking and wearing a dark-coloured, 'puffed-out' style jacket.
Those with him are described as much shorter, at around 5ft 5ins to 5ft 6ins.
