Sunday sees the first round of the eagerly-awaited Reelcare knockout cup on Longbridge, the area's top local team contest.
And the heat looks to be a cracker with top local squad Poingdestres taking on the cream of the West Country in the form of Sillybait Original and Sillybait Black, while crack outfit Bournemouth Fishing Lodge can't be ruled out.
On paper the three qualifiers for the final on Longbridge on August 11 will come from the leading four teams but Longbridge can produce some funny results from unusual pegs at this time of year, which could throw it wide open - especially if as predicted the weather warms up quickly towards the weekend.
One big weight could carry one of the lesser squads through.
Ringwood Megabait could do anything on the day. Last year they surprised the angling world by winning the Van Den Eynde Clubmans Supercup but they are a real Jekyll & Hyde outfit, putting in some very average performances among the odd outstanding result and much will depend on which Ringwood team turns up on Sunday.
Eastleigh extremists have surprised on Longbridge before and are capable of an upset while Alans Marine, Eastleigh Tightlines and Godfreys Misfits look outclassed.
Fishing is 10am until 4pm and the heat has all the makings of a great match.
The Eastleigh midweek open on Stoneham saw victory for Paul White (Eastleigh) who took five good carp on the pole and pellet for 33-13 to get the better of Ray Hayward (Homestores Select) with 31-1 which consisted of three good carp. Mick Marsh finished third with 20-6 of carp and tench with Paul Sears fourth with 15-9.
There was an excellent performance by the first two in the Whiteparish Mini Festival. Andrews (Woodington Feeds) and Frank Gumbleton (Salisbury) were level on 16 points each at the end of the three days with Andrews getting the verdict on a weight advantage of 90-0 to Gumbleton's total of 55-0.

On the third and final day, Andrews took 13-8 of rudd from Walden's Farm to finish second behind John Metcalf with 17-0 of carp.
Reids Tackle's John Gray has been in superb form at Tony Beeny's Witherington Farm Fishery with two more victories.
