FANS were hot-footing it to Eastleigh's Swan shopping centre on Saturday to get some expert tips from one of the golden girls of British athletics.
However, Kelly Holmes, who is currently training for this year's Commonwealth Games, stressed there was a level of fitness for everyone, adding: "If you have positive thoughts and you want to keep fit and healthy there is no reason why you can't do it."
The 32-year-old, said to be the best female middle distance runner Britain has ever produced, was at the centre to meet shoppers and advise on fitness and exercise.
It was all part of an initiative by the Swan to get people fit for summer.
A live 107.8FM South City roadshow provided background atmosphere while experts were also on hand to offer advice on aerobics, diet and even what strength suntan barrier to take on holiday.
Kelly, who has won a string of Olympic, World Championship, Commonwealth and European medals in her glittering career demonstrated her warm-up routine for the coming Games.
However, judging by the demand for her autograph, the popular track star - who served with the Army as a physical training instructor and became an MBE in 1998 - may have been in danger of leaving Eastleigh with writer's cramp.
