A TRIO of golfers from Richard Aldworth School won the preliminary round of the British Heart Foundation's Junior Golf competition held at Stoneham Golf Club recently.

The team consisted of Andy McCartney, Andy Darmody and Dan Geliot.

They managed a score of 79 points in the stableford competition based on the best two scores.

Darmody, who had 41 points off a handicap of 17, played five better than his handicap from Dummer Golf Club.

McCartney, had 38 points off a handicap of three, so two better than his handicap from the Basingstoke Golf Club.

Geliot had 34 points off a handicap of 17, two worse than his handicap from Basingstoke Golf Club.

The trio will now play in the regional final which will be held at the Cottesmore Golf and County club on June 25.

A total of 21 teams took part raising in excess of £2,100 for the British Heart Foundation.
