Hook 1, Kingsclere Sunday 0
A GOAL from Richard Sygrove in the third minute of time added on earned Hook victory in the final of the Knightsbridge Garage All Champions Cup over Kingsclere Sunday.
It was the fourth time in their history that Hook have won the annual battle between the champions of the Basingstoke Saturday and Sunday leagues.
Hook put on the pressure early and, in the eighth minute, a cross from Mark Stent saw Kingsclere 'keeper Paul Marchant forced to punch over a header from Sygrove.
Soon after, Colin Rogers put Stent through on the right but his finishing shot was disappointing and went over the bar.
For Kingsclere, Shaun Tull headed a chance over the bar and, just before the break, Tyrone Aldridge had a hot shot deflected for a corner.
Despite kicking up the slope, Hook continued to have the chances with Nigel Moreton and Rogers shooting wide.
The introduction of Kevin Flain in the 54th minute began to make the Kingsclere front line more effective and 'keeper Mike Sewell was out at his feet to save when Steve Caswell put him through. Stephen Aldridge also tested the Hook goalkeeper with a low shot.
Nigel Moreton almost broke the deadlock on 82 minutes when he met a cross from Stent with a fierce header, but it hit a defender on the line.
Five minutes later, after some good Kingsclere pressure, Flain crashed in a shot from 10 yards out after a mele in the goal area. However, it was blocked on the line.
The decider came three minutes into injury time as Rogers broke down the right and Sygrove was in the perfect spot to slide it past Marchant.
The cup and awards were presented by Basingstoke and District Football League president John Saunders, deputising for Mr Horn who donated the cup.
