AFC Aldermaston A and Nine Saxons clash in the final of the Supplementary B Cup final at Water End tomorrow (4.15pm).
Although one would feel Nine Saxons as Basingstoke B Cup winners after their memorable 4-2 extra time victory over the division two Champions Headley Athletic, should be firm favourites, but their opponents AFC Aldermaston, under manager Dave Griffiths, father of the first team manager Dave Griffiths, ended up in third position in the table and including their Supplementary Cup matches, have lost just twice in their last sixteen outings.
One player Saxons will have to watch is Damion Bone, their leading scorer with 18 goals, with four hat-tricks included.
Their best performance in this competition was to beat Tylney Hall 1-0.
Nine Saxons have Bill Pickett as manager and after losing to Rotherwick Green Reserves in the final last year, he is determined this time to win the cup.
He is however aware his side has met their opponents four times already this season and ended up losers on each occasion.
"We owe them a beating," said boss Pickett, who is likely to be without one of his main goal scorers Ben Thane, who has scored 30 this season, as he is likely to be playing cricket for Burridge. His top goal man Terry Moth, with 31 goals is in the line up.
