SKATEBOARDERS in Tid-worth can look forward to having a skateboard facility in the town once again after parish councillors agreed to pay £2,000 towards a new scheme at a new site.
A controversial plan for a 'half-pipe' at the Queen's Wall in Ludgershall Road was dropped last year following a dispute over VAT and concern about annoyance to neighbours.
The new site on MoD- owned land opposite the British Legion Club is currently used by the military for sporting activities and is a long way from the nearest residential property.
As well as the contribution from the parish, the half-pipe will also be supported by Kennet District Council,
Wiltshire County Council, the Defence Housing Executive and the MOD.
MoD representative, Col Tony Bateman, said the MoD will maintain and insure the structure.
Although the plan at present only includes a half-pipe councillors were told it could be extended with additional features in future.
