The final race in the series took place on April 28th. Racing in Southampton Water with a westerly wind direction meant conditions were quieter than in the Solent but with a gusty breeze around 20 knots.
After a brief postponement to reposition the committee boat off Netley on the eastern shore, all classes got away to a good day's racing.
Class 1IRC has been dominated by Mike Garvey's X332 "X-Parrot" which took the series from the H-boat "Badger" and "Hooligan". In the RSYC Handicap class the Hunter 707 "Big Boys Toys" gained a well-deserved victory over "Iskareen" and "Zumbido". Despite stealing a march in the earlier stages of the series, Peter Jenkins' "Shakatak" tied equal first with Simon Forbes' "Scooby III" in the multihull class.
The Club's local racing series now transfers to Thursday evenings with the Twilight Series starting on May 2nd.
