WHO needs a street if you're going to have a street party?
A generous Warsash sports club is inviting revellers to its ground to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee in style.
The club is opening its doors to anyone who has been unable to close off their road for a traditional street party.
So far Fareham council has given permission for only ten local streets to be closed on Monday, June 3.
Organiser David Brayley said: "There are lots of people who would like to have a street party but they can't close their street for one reason or another.
"The idea is to provide a safe area for those people - a safe, secure environment where nobody is going to get knocked over by cars."
The Warsash Wasps Sports Club is opening its New Road car park and football pitch for the event, which takes place on the Monday afternoon.
There will be a fireworks display in the evening at 9.15pm.
Mr Brayley told the Daily Echo: "There is so much traffic around these days - where I live you simply couldn't close the street.
"A lot of people would like to have a street party but can't.
"It just seemed like a good idea to get everyone together."
Trestle tables and benches will be provided at the event, which costs £2 a head or £7 for a family of four.
Revellers are encouraged to bring their own food and drink.
