John Abercrombie, Turner Sims Music Hall, May 7
THE TURNER Sims' jazz season comes to a close on Tuesday with a performance by living guitar legend John Abercrombie.
The concert is one of just three dates in this country on Abercrombie's major European tour to promote his latest album, Cat 'n' Mouse.
Abercrombie has a distinctive style, combining new techniques with more traditional ones.
"I'd like people to perceive me as having a direct connection to the history of jazz guitar, while expanding some musical boundaries," he says.
Abercrombie first made his mark during the Seventies and recorded a string of albums for the prestigious ECM label, working with artists including Jack DeJohnette, Dave Holland and Ralph Towner.
For his current tour he is joined by violinist Mark Feldman, bassist Marc Johnson and drummer Joey Baron.
Performance: 8pm. Tickets: £14. Box office: 023 8059 5151.
