Fame, Mayflower Theatre, Southampton, May 6 - 11
FAME should come with a health warning: 'You are not a trained dancer, you cannot do the splits while leaping through the air'.
Fame, the Oscar-winning movie and legendary TV series defined a generation and undoubtedly resulted in numerous playground injuries as children attempted to emulate Leroy and co.
Who didn't dream of having ballet classes at the New York School of Performing Arts, wearing leg warmers and holding up traffic by dancing on the roofs of cars with their friends?
Well it's time to dust off those dreams of stardom and splits, even if it's just for one night, because Fame - The Musical is coming to Southampton.
The show follows the highs and lows, the romances and hard graft, involving a certain amount of 'paying with sweat', that is the daily life for the star-struck students in search of success.
For some of the pupils it is all too much, but ultimately tragedy and triumph combine for a breathtaking finale of the stuff that dreams are made of.
The show, which has been nominated for two Olivier Awards, features dynamic dance routines and high-octane performances from its 35-strong cast of young British talent.
You got big dreams? You want fame? Well head for The Mayflower this week.
